Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas Kicks Off First Summer Season on West Coast With Mexican Riviera Cruises

Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas is heading into uncharted waters—at least for her. The 2016-built cruise ship is gearing up to launch her first-ever summer season on the U.S. West Coast, starting May 31, 2025, from the World Cruise Center in San Pedro, California.

After wrapping up a short spring stint in the Far East, the 4,222-guest Quantum-class vessel is currently en route to Los Angeles on a 17-night repositioning cruise. The itinerary began in Yokohama, Japan, with stops in Shimizu and Kobe, before making the Pacific crossing to California.

A New Homeport and Fresh Adventures

Once she arrives, Ovation of the Seas will sail from her new summer home alongside Navigator of the Seas, offering a mix of three-, five-, and six-night itineraries to the Mexican Riviera and Baja. Destinations include quick getaways to Ensenada and extended cruises featuring overnight stays in Cabo San Lucas—a major draw for travelers looking to enjoy the vibrant nightlife and scenic beaches.

This new West Coast deployment runs through late September 2025, marking the first time Ovation of the Seas is dedicating an entire summer to California-based sailings.

Back to Asia for the Winter

Once her summer run ends, Ovation will return to Southeast Asia for winter cruising out of Singapore. Part of Royal Caribbean’s 2025-26 winter lineup, the ship will offer short cruises to Malaysia and Thailand, departing from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre. These routes cater to both local travelers and international guests looking for warm-weather escapes with a mix of urban and beachside exploration.

Quantum of the Seas Follows Suit

As Ovation heads east, her sister ship Quantum of the Seas is preparing to take her place on the West Coast. Built in 2014, Quantum will arrive in Los Angeles in early October 2025 to begin her winter deployment. She’ll be offering three- to seven-night cruises to destinations like Ensenada and the Mexican Riviera—mirroring her sister ship’s routes.

And it’s not just a one-season affair. Quantum of the Seas is also scheduled to stick around through summer 2026, making her a long-term player in Royal Caribbean’s growing West Coast strategy.

Voyager of the Seas to Join in 2026

Adding even more muscle to the lineup, Voyager of the Seas is expected to debut on the West Coast ahead of the 2026-27 winter season. The 1999-built ship will replace Navigator of the Seas, which has long been a staple in the region. With a capacity of 3,430 guests, Voyager will bring a slightly different onboard experience but maintain the popular Mexican itineraries.
